Harry Potter Inspired Styled Shoot

Written by Kasey Jansik of Weddings by Kasey

“I Solemnly swear that I am up to no good”, not only is that my absolute favorite line from the Harry Potter series but it also sparked the idea that would soon become this beautiful Harry Potter inspired styled shoot. Magical trains, wands, Hogwarts houses, feasts in the Great Hall, and the excitement of attending classes to learn magical arts all went into the inspiration for this shoot. A Grey, Gold, and White color scheme was used to imitate the soft and loving presence of a Patronus. Located in Cypress Grove Park of Orlando, FL surrounded by a serene lake (no giant squid in this one, we checked) and mossy trees, the shoot captured the essence of Harry Potter, romance, and whimsy.

Now, In the ever famous ramblings of Albus Dumbledore “ Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!” or as I would like to say, let’s move on to the good stuff!

Our Bride Abi looked enchanting as she explored the grounds of Cypress Grove, hair and makeup done by Dana of Once Upon a Beauty Hair and Makeup. She carried a bouquet of lush white florals and beautiful greenery by Andie from The Flower Studio.

There is an ever present feeling of the Patronus in this beautiful invitation suite hand lettered by Christine from Carousel Atelier.

The gorgeous place settings, glassware, and flatware were provided by the incredibly creative Kristin of The Vintage Dish. The perfectly colored linens from Rentaland and beautiful Gold Chiavari chairs provided by Any Event Linen & Chair rental created the perfect base for our table to take shape. Hedwig inspired feather placecards (hand lettered by Carousel Atelier), table no. 9 ¾ , owls on the glassware, and candles all came together to create the perfect look for this modern take on a Harry Potter inspired wedding shoot. This tablescape would put even the Great Hall at Christmastime to shame!

No Harry Potter inspired event could be complete without potions! These potion inspired drinks were styled and provided by Kristin from The Vintage Dish. The captivating cake was made by Anna with Anna Cakes and it was absolutely spellbinding!

I hope you enjoyed your journey through this magical shoot. Who would have thought that our own little piece of Harry Potter inspiration could be created right in the heart of Orlando, FL. I hope to share another amazing shoot with you all again soon and in the meantime as Ron Weasley would say “Don’t let the Muggles get you down” and for now “Mischief Managed”.

Alyssa + Hector ENGAGED!

I've known these two ever since they first started dating, 3 years ago.  Alyssa has worked so hard in school and recently graduated and is now employed as an ER Nurse.  Last week she bought her first home and this week, she said "yes!" to forever with Hector.  Hector is the sweetest and he is so perfect for her.  I wish them nothing but happiness!!

Outdoor Downtown Orlando Boudoir

I am so happy that we didn't call off this session because of the rain.  When you embrace your challenges, magic happens.  The clouds loomed in the distance creating an awesome dark sky, and the lightening was striking uncomfortably close.  When the rain got too heavy we resorted to shooting inside a parking garage which turned out to be so DOPE.  I can't get over how much I love those shots.  And, at the end of the session, I got to play with all the awesome reflections caused by the puddles.  Overall, THIS SESSION WAS AMAZING.  Big shout out to Ashley Thompson for sticking with it and embracing what the weather gave us, she was so fun to shoot with!

Keegan + Charlotte Leu Gardens Winter Park Florida Wedding

Keegan and Charlotte exchanged vows at Harry P. Leu gardens located in Winter Park Florida among their closet friends and family.  Charlotte wore a beautiful long sleeved lace gown and carried a white and blue bouquet of roses, lilies and greenery.  Keegan donned a light grey suit with green accents and a Peter Pan and Wendy themed boutonnière that perfectly tied into their reception decor.  It was such an honor to be apart of this wedding.  Their friends and family were such a tight knit group, I watched as their friends took turns dancing with many of the other family members as if they were one gigantic family unit.

There wasn't a dry eye in the room when Keegan and Charlotte surprised their guests with a special first dance song, that was recorded by Charlottes late father.  There were many special parts of the day that were dedicated to those family members that were no longer with them.  I wish nothing but happiness to the new Mr. & Mrs. Glover!

Quincenera at The Veranda

This was my first time ever attending a Quincenera, and I must say, it did not disappoint! I have photographed at The Crystal Ballroom in Casalberry twice before, but haven't had the opportunity yet to visit one of their sister venues until now.  The Veranda, is located in MetroWest, hidden within a cluster of large brightly colored buildings, filled with hip restaurants and boutiques.  One may not ever notice that this venue exsisted within this area, making it a true hidden gem!

I adored meeting the Patel family and being apart of their daughter, Isabella's celebration.  Isabella wore a lavish light pink ballroom gown, with gorgeous lace details and rhinestones.  Her hair effortlessly fell past her shoulders in waves, with a trendy middle part.  Photographing her during portraits was a breeze, it came very easy to her.

After her ceremony, her mother and father had the traditional changing of shoes, where they remove her flats and exchange them for heels, a symbol of womanhood.

After that, Isabella changed into another dress and the party began.  The coolest part about the day was seeing the Samba dancers, they really got the party going!

Victoria + Conor Downtown Orlando Wedding and Winter Park Garden Reception

Can I just say, that this couple wins at the last name game?? Seriously, Mr. & Mrs. Deering, so adorable! Hair and Make Up by the amazing Lindsey Roberts.

My favorite part about this wedding has to be the color pallet.  I love jewel tones! I loved the reds, pinks, and forest greens from the flowers and how they matched perfectly with each bridesmaids getting ready robe.  Victoria even rocked some dark maroon lips, and it fit the mood of the wedding just right.

I was sooooo excited when Victoria and Conor told me that they wanted a "First Look" before their ceremony.  It really is an amazing moment.  If you think about it, you get to cherish a photo the had BOTH of you in it, and the best part?  You can pick a gorgeous location to have your first look in.  Another plus by doing a first look is that if you have a very tight timeline, you can get your portraits out of the way and free up more time after the ceremony, an even bigger plus if the sunsets earlier in the day! I'm speaking to all of you brides out there that want a 5pm ceremony during daylight savings time!
